Cayman Island

Located 770 kilometers south of Miami, the Cayman Islands is a British overseas territory that has achieved global recognition as a major financial centre. Its political and financial capital is Georgetown, on the island of Grand Cayman.

The Cayman Islands is an economically and politically stable democracy. It has its own legislative assembly and is largely self governed. The Cayman legal system is based on British law complemented with local legislation.

Historically the territory has met or exceeded international regulatory and supervisory standards, a fact that has assited the growth of its financial services sector.

The financial services industry is regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.
